St-Francois felling permit

The owner must obtain a certificate of authorization prior to proceeding with the felling of any deciduous tree with a diameter of 30 mm or 3 cm and above, and any coniferous tree measuring 150 cm or more in height, regardless of the tree's location on the property. The form to obtain a certificate of authorization for felling is available below.

The felled tree must be replaced, before the date indicated on the certificate of authorization, with a new tree.

Fees A fee of $79 per tree is charged to verify compliance with felling conditions. Please note that a certificate of authorization is required to fell an ash tree, but there is no associated cost for this request.

Accepted reasons for felling The tree is dead. The tree is in an irreversible state of decline. The tree must be felled to limit the risks of spreading a disease or species of invasive exotic insect. The tree is dangerous to the safety of persons and property due to one or more major structural weaknesses that make any corrective arboricultural work impossible. The tree must be felled to construct or develop a structure in accordance with the issuance of a planning authorization certificate (renovation, driveway enlargement, etc.).
