St-Donat felling permit

Information for slaughter tree

For the entire territory of Saint‑Donat, tree felling may only be authorized for the following reasons:


· The tree must be dead or suffering from an incurable disease

· The tree must be dangerous for the safety of people

· The tree must be a nuisance to the growth and well-being of neighboring trees

· The tree must cause damage to public or private property

· The tree must necessarily be felled as part of the execution of public works

· The tree must necessarily be felled for the realization of a construction or work authorized by this regulation and which has been the subject of a permit or certificate application, where applicable.

A certificate is required for any tree felling in the following cases:

· For the entire territory, in the riparian protection strip and on sites with a slope of more than 30%, a certificate of authorization is mandatory and the replacement of felled trees is mandatory

· Within the urban perimeter for any tree whose diameter is greater than 10 cm (measurement taken 30 cm from the ground)

· Outside the urban perimeter and outside the bank, a certificate of authorization is mandatory for any felling of more than 12 trees , over a period of 12 months, with a stump diameter of 10 cm (measure taken at 30 cm from the ground)

A certificate is required at all times for logging.

To know :

When submitting your permit application, you will need to provide the following information:

1. The duly completed form

2. Dimensions of tree trunks to be felled

3. A plan of your land showing the location of the trees to be felled

4. The reasons for the cut. Your request must be justified and, if necessary, the municipal officer may ask you for additional supporting documents.

5. Finally, in order to facilitate the analysis of the request, we advise you to identify the trees to be felled so that the municipal officer can easily discern them during his visit to the field before issuing the authorization certificate

Validity: 12 months


In the riparian strip, which is set at 10 or 15 m and for sites with a slope of more than 30%, a certificate of authorization is obligatory for any tree cutting and the replacement of felled trees is obligatory. Outside the urban perimeter and outside the bank, a certificate of authorization is mandatory for any felling of more than 12 trees over a period of 12 months, with a stump diameter of 10 centimeters (measurement taken at 30 centimeters from the ground) and more. (except for felling required as part of an authorized work or construction.) Inside the urban perimeter and outside the bank, any felling of trees whose diameter is greater than 10 centimeters (measurement taken 30 centimeters from the ground) on the territory of the municipality is subject to a certificate of authorization.
