Duvernay-Est felling permit

The owner must obtain a mandatory authorization certificate prior to proceeding with the felling of a deciduous tree with a diameter of 30 mm or 3 cm and larger, and any coniferous tree measuring 150 cm or more in height, regardless of the tree's location on the property. The form to obtain an authorization certificate for felling is available below.

The felled tree must be replaced by a new tree before the date indicated on the authorization certificate.

Fees A fee of $79 per tree is charged to verify compliance with felling conditions. Please note that a request for an authorization certificate is required to fell an ash tree, but there is no cost associated with this request.

Acceptable reasons for felling:

• The tree is dead
• The tree is in an irreversible state of decline
• The tree must be felled to limit the spread of disease or an invasive exotic insect species
• The tree poses a danger to the safety of people and property due to one or more major structural weaknesses that make any corrective tree work impossible
• The tree must be felled to construct or modify a structure compliant with an urban planning authorization certificate (renovation, driveway extension, etc.).
